Alain Epp Weaver

Alain Epp Weaver is co-director for Mennonite Central Committee’s (MCC) Planning and Learning department. He worked previously for over a decade with MCC in the Middle East, most recently as MCC Representative for Palestine, Jordan and Iraq. He is the author of Mapping Exile and Return: Palestinian Dispossession and a Political Theology for a Shared Future (Fortress, 2014) and the author and editor of several other books.

How does your work feed into the GMP conference?

AEW: MCC accompanies Anabaptist-Mennonite churches around the world, including in Canada and the United States, working for peace in their communities and their communities and their nations. My department gathers and disseminates learnings from these global peacebuilding efforts.

What are your hopes for this event?

AEW: The Global Mennonite Peacebuilding Conference promises to be an exciting time for sharing and reflecting on diverse Mennonite experiences in building peace. I anticipate that the Conference will both inspire and push forward critical conversations about the church’s peace witness.
